County, Maryland Police Forced by DOJ to Racially Profile! (06/24/00)
After 3 years (1996 - 1999) the U.S. DOJ failed to find any evidence of racial
discrimination by the Montgomery County, Maryland police. Frustrated by this, the
DOJ threatened Montgomery County with years of legal harassment unless the county
agreed to racially profile all traffic stops. On Jan. 14, 2000 the county
signed the DOJ's extortionist consent decree. Read about the "facts" and
DOJ's campaign to create evidence of racial discrimination where none exists.

San Jose
Firefighters Form "White" Employee Association (07/02/99)
Tired of being the only significant
racial group without their own representation, the San Jose Firefighters have formed an
employee organization aimed at the special needs of European American firefighters.
"Fire Capt. James Roszell, the new organization's president, said its members want to
help improve human relations in the city and in the fire department, which has been roiled
by lawsuits involving racial politics and affirmative action. The association would
model itself after groups such as the Santa Clara County Black Firefighters Association,
Women in the Fire Service and Bomberos of Northern California, which represents Latino
firefighters." (Courtesy of San Jose Mercury News 07/02/99). See Link: http://www.adversity.net/policefire_1.htm#temp_sj_eaff
Fire Dept. Lieutenant
Files Reverse Discrimination
Court TV's on-line summary of "reverse bias" case against a fire department
lieutenant. Interesting reading if you are considering filing a reverse
discrimination complaint of your own!
Candada
(Ottawa): Female
firefighters to be hired ahead of men
Poor Ottawa! Following down
the reverse discrimination road. The Council approved a measure preferring the
hiring of women and 'self-identified minorities'. Out of 300 qualified candidates,
the only four women on the list are to be automatically hired. "Forget 296
people who have qualified, we are going to focus on four," complained Councillor
Allan Higdon. (Ottawa Citizen 12/17/98)
