Maryland Delegate Melony Griffith:
Liberal Democrat, Pro-Quota, Pro-Union, and Black.
Where was Melony Griffith coming from when she decided to get waiter Jeb Bellow fired?
Is there anything in her background that would shed insight into what can only be
described as an out-of-control temper tantrum (and a potential abuse of her office)?
Melony Griffith is black, 35 years old, is married, and she has chosen to live in a
predominantly black community in Prince Georges County, Maryland. She attended high
school and college in Montana, and earned a Bachelor's degree there. She earned a
Masters in Social Work (MSW) from a predominantly black college (Howard University in
DC). Griffith is not poor, she is not disadvantaged, she is not one of the
disenfranchised of our society.
Pro-Union:
As a freshman delegate to the Maryland legislature, Melony Ghee Griffith is known
to be very friendly to unions, and especially to AFSCME -- the American Federation of
State, County and Municipal Employees, who have strongly endorsed her. Also, the
Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689 (ATU Local 689) has strongly endorsed Ms. Griffith as
one of their own.
Feminist:
Womens groups have strongly endorsed Griffith.
Strongly Pro-Quota:
Prior to her election to the Maryland legislature, Ms. Griffith had also worked as
a volunteer for U.S. Rep. Albert R. Wynn (black). Congressman Al Wynn is one of the
most extremely pro-racial-quota members of the U.S. House of Representatives.
"Big Al" Wynn represents Marylands 4th Congressional District in the U.S.
Congress (but only if those voters are also minorities).
Employment: Ms.
Griffiths resume includes a stint as a consultant for the politically liberal,
pro-minority, pro-third world Academy for Educational Development (AED). The Academy
is heavily dependent upon Agency for International Development funding and charitable
contributions, and it spends a great deal of its resources trying to bring American values
and technology to third world countries and LDC's (Less Developed Countries). In the
U.S., AED focuses many of its efforts on minority-oriented programs.
Griffith's official resume lists her former position at AED as: Senior Program
Officer for Health and Entitlement Programs, Academy for Educational Development,
Washington, DC, 1998-?"
Between 1987 and 1998 she also worked for a number of organizations as a social worker and
as a public health specialist, both on a volunteer basis as well as a paid basis.
Affiliations:
Melony Griffith is also a member of the National Council of Negro Women; as well as of the
League of Women Voters. Ms. Griffith lists herself as a past member of the Prince
George's County Democratic Central Committee.

Annapolis man drowns
The Baltimore Examiner
Jun 21, 2006
"An Annapolis man who once publicly tussled with a Maryland state delegate over a
restaurant seat died early Tuesday morning in an apparent drowning, police said.
"Jeb Bello, 32, was swimming with two friends in Spa Creek early Tuesday, said
Officer Hal Dalton, a spokesman for the Annapolis Police Department. During the swim,
Bellos friends noticed he was missing and called the police at about 2:50
a.m., Dalton said.
"Rescue workers came to scene and found Bello unconscious. He was taken to Anne
Arundel Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly after, Dalton said.
"Bello had been working as a manager of 49 West, a downtown Annapolis coffee house,
for nine years, according to Paul Michalec, who also works as a manager there.
"He was a wonderful, kind and understanding man with an amazing insight,"
Michalec said.
"Surviving Bello are his wife and their 3-year-old son, Michalec said."
