Bill Lann Lee is the "acting" Assistant U.S. Attorney General for the Department of Justice Office of Civil Rights.           Lynne A. Battaglia is the U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland.

          They both have a long record of disregarding court orders to abandon racial preference and quota programs which favor minorities.  Battaglia and Lee have teamed up in other cases to trample color-blind justice.  The Montgomery County Department of Police is only their latest victim.

In one infamous reverse discrimination case, Ms. Battaglia repeatedly ignored the judge's orders to produce documents and evidence in defense of the government's reverse discrimination policies (affirmative action).  This particular case is Sonntag v. McConnell in which federal employee William Sonntag had filed a discrimination suit claiming that the government had denied him a promotion on the basis of race and sex.

          U.S. Attorney Battaglia repeatedly refused to address the legality of the government's use of race and sex in hiring and promotion decisions, and the judge repeatedly berated her office (the U.S. Attorney for Maryland) for failing to address the legal issues, and for failing to produce documentation which was responsive to the issues.

          In Sonntag, et al, Lynne Battaglia all but admitted to the Court that she had been told by Bill Lann Lee (U.S. DOJ) in no uncertain terms to NOT allow the constitutional issue of racial preferences to be addressed and to use whatever obfuscatory means necessary to prevent this key issue from being addressed in open court. 

          At the conclusion of the amazing non-defense by Battaglia's office, the court stated:  "The integrity of the judicial process has been compromised by considerations that apparently forced upon the United States Attorney a choice between allegiance to politics and service to the court."  Battaglia's conduct "evidenced almost a contemptuousness toward the court."   (By the way, Sonntag won a settlement in spite of Battaglia's judicial intransigence.)

Bill Lann Lee Writes His Own Racial Rules:

Not to put too fine a point on it, but in his previous life, Mr. Lee was the NAACP bag man in a racial extortion racket for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.            During his highly politicized tenure with NAACP, Mr. Bill Lann Lee became famous for the racial quota agreements that he extorted from private employers in the face of threats of messy, public NAACP boycotts and years of legal harassment.  Mr. Lee used every trick that Mafia enforcers ever used with the possible exception of physical violence.  Organizations targeted by Lee often made generous payments to favored NAACP causes, and always agreed to hire more blacks.

          Yet, very few companies that Lee targeted on behalf of NAACP were ever allowed to take their cases before a court of law.  In the face of the barely legal tactics used by Lee and his masters at the NAACP, most organizations decided it was far cheaper to cave in to Lee's and the NAACP's demands to hire more blacks and other minorities.

          Then, in 1997, President Bill "Rainbow" Clinton decided his rainbow cabinet needed a man with Bill Lann Lee's racial-extortion expertise in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Civil Rights.  The U.S. Senate, following a close examination of Lee's racially-biased history, absolutely refused to approve Lee's nomination to DOJ.  So Clinton waited until the Senate recessed, and he appointed Lee illegally to the supposedly temporary post of "acting" Assistant U.S. Attorney General for Civil Rights.  (See especially "The Lawless Tenure of Bill Lann Lee" at http://www.adversity.net/lee_illegal.htm)

          In 1998 alone, acting on behalf of Bill Clinton, Mr. Bill Lann Lee racked up dozens of racial preference schemes against school districts, police departments and fire departments in which he used his DOJ position to force many of these organizations to manipulate their employment tests so that fewer whites were hired while resulting in greater numbers of protected minorities being hired.  Once again, few, if any, of Bill Lee's DOJ cases were ever allowed to end up in a court of law.  Just the way Mr. Lee likes it.

          Shortly after being installed at Justice, Mr. Lee's old friends from the NAACP handed him a case-in-progress:  the ongoing NAACP investigation, oops, we mean the DOJ investigation into the Montgomery County Department of Police.  Lee was delighted to partner with Maryland U.S. Attorney Lynne A. Battaglia, in whom he found a strong ally in the fight against color-blind justice.  (Lynne Battaglia previously served as staff director for Maryland's extremely pro-quota U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski.)

Lynne Battaglia: Liberal, Pro-Quota U.S. Attorney

Lynn Battaglia was appointed by Bill "Rainbow" Clinton to the position of U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland in the early 1990's.  Battaglia is a staunch friend and ally both of U.S. DOJ's Bill Lann Lee and of Maryland's liberal, pro-quota U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski.           As U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, Lynne Battaglia has unashamedly promoted the rights of officially preferred minorities and women at the expense of white males.  Additionally, Ms. Battaglia has a history of refusing judges' orders to produce government evidence in defense of quotas and preferences (See especially Sonntag vs. McConnell at http://www.adversity.net/lee_sonntag.htm#washtimes122498)

          More recently, Battaglia has attacked the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) for publishing Maryland gun crime statistics which do not support Battaglia's personal belief that guns are the cause of violent crime in Maryland.

          In fact, Ms. Battaglia threatened the ATF agent who requested the statistics (Larry D. Stewart, Maryland's top ATF agent) with a job demotion because he dared to request and publish gun crime statistics which contradicted Battaglia's personal viewpoint that guns in Maryland cause most violent crimes.

          Lynne Battaglia's personal political ambitions are closely tied to liberal anti-gun lobbyists.  She has reportedly threatened to deliberately underreport gun crime statistics in order to discredit ATF agent Stewart.  Battaglia has also directly threatened her staff member who complied with the law by providing the raw, unmodified gun-crime statistics upon request.  (See especially the Washington Post story at http://washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A48509-2000Sep20.html )

Battaglia Background:   Immediately prior to her appointment as U.S. Attorney, Battaglia was the Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski.  In that role, Battaglia fought vigorously on behalf of Mikulski's anti-white-male, pro-quota political agenda. 

          Lynne Battaglia has received awards from women's groups for her "outstanding contribution to the advancement of women's rights in the state of Maryland." 

Battaglia is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association's Gender Equality Committee where she has steadfastly advanced the notion that the male gender is the source of most if not all woes faced by women.  Battaglia has also served on the Board of Directors of the Women's Law Center where she was able to advance the notion that men don't deserve "innocent until proven guilty"  while at the same time she strongly advocated that women deserve every possible presumption of innocence until proven guilty.           U.S. Attorney Lynne Battaglia is 1/3 of an unholy racial triumvirate in the State of Maryland:  She is a strong ally of DOJ's Bill Lann Lee, and she is a former protege of Maryland's U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski who believes that white males deserve fewer constitutional protections than certain minorities and women.           In the case of Sonntag vs. McConnell, Battaglia abused the Court and repeatedly refused to comply with the judge's order that she respond to charges of reverse discrimination.  Battaglia, under direct orders from Bill Lann Lee at the U.S. Justice Department simply stonewalled the Court and refused to address the constitutional issues raised.  The court severely criticized Battaglia for her uncooperative and politically-motivated stance in this case.
